Paul Craig Roberts makes a good point in his column today:
"Contrary to Bush administration propaganda, Saddam Hussein was precisely the type of secular Arab ruler who would feature large on Osama bin Laden’s hit list. Hussein brutally suppressed Islamic leaders, knocking off cleric after cleric, including Moqtada al-Sadr’s father, a grand ayatollah."
If Saddam hadn't invaded Kuwait, and assuming Bin Laden would have been angry at the U.S. over something other than American troops in Arabia, quite possibly Saddam would have been recruited as a U.S. ally in the War on Terror, like those tyrants in Central Asia, Pakistan and Africa.
Funny how the U.S. by targeting Saddam did Bin Laden's dirty work for him. Why were the Bush Administration and Bin Laden de facto allies in a war to topple the government in Iraq?
