Reports the otherwise odious RFE-RL on one of the truly
heroic men of the tragic 20th century:
A HABSBURG VISITS THE BOSNIAN CAPITAL Otto von Habsburg, the eldest son of the late Austrian Emperor Karl, attended the premier in Sarajevo on 24 May of a film about the 28 June 1914 assassination of Habsburg Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie, which triggered a set of events that resulted in the outbreak of World War I, dpa reported. The film is titled "90 Years Later" and will be released on the 90th anniversary of the couple's death at the hands of a young Serbian revolutionary, Gavrilo Princip. The 45-minute documentary film is a joint production of the German public broadcaster ARD, Bosnian Federation Television, and Belgrade B92 Television. It was shot in Sarajevo, Belgrade, Vienna, and Princip's hometown Bosansko Grahovo. PM
Now what should be done (before Dr. Habsburg's long life comes to an end) is to return the family's properties seized by the Nazis and immorally retained by successive Austrian governments. Private property is the sine qua non of a free society -- even if our obsessively egalitarian society cringes at the thought of restoring property to rightful owners if these happen to be of frowned-upon classes.
