Writes Professor Butler Shaffer:
"As one who embraces no formal religious position, I was nonetheless annoyed - and let it be known - when, at an in-house 'Holiday Party' here at the law school, a sign was put up that read 'Happy Holidays, Happy Hanukkah.'
"'Where is 'Merry Christmas?' I inquired, to an empty stare that might just as well have come from advocating child abuse or cruelty to animals! We live in a twisted world rendered all the more dangerous by a general ignorance that it is so.
"Anyhow, Merry Christmas from your friendly agnostic!"
