'Passion Misplay'

A fascinating, if wrongheaded, article from Slate, by Steven Waldman on "Who Killed Jesus?" He wonders if he can offend both his Christian and his Jewish relatives in one article. But how long do we have to put up with the libelous baloney that the Catholic Church taught that "the Jews" were responsible for the Crucifixion, until the glorious dawn of Vatican II? Here's just one of the things that the Catechism of the 16th century Council of Trent had to say: "Men of all ranks and conditions were gathered together against the Lord, and against His Christ. Gentiles and Jews were the advisers, the authors, the ministers of His Passion: Judas betrayed Him, Peter denied Him, all the rest deserted Him."
